Heating and cooling in one
A mini split is a heat pump, so the same system cools your home in summer and heats it in winter — no separate furnace and AC.
Heating and cooling for homes without ductwork — a ductless mini split delivers both from a compact system, with independent control for each room and no ducts to run.

Why It Matters
A ductless mini split is a heat pump system that both heats and cools — an outdoor condenser connects to one or more slim indoor units mounted on the wall or ceiling, linked by refrigerant lines that run through a small hole in the wall. No ducts, no major remodeling. Each indoor unit controls its own room, so you condition the spaces you're using instead of the whole house.
That makes it a natural fit for a lot of Bay Area homes: older houses that never had central ducts, additions and ADUs, converted garages and sunrooms, and rooms that are always too hot or too cold. It's one of several ways we help homes stay comfortable — see our full heating and cooling services, or a whole house fan if free evening-air cooling is what you're after.
How It Works
It's a compact, flexible system — here's what makes it up and what it does.
A mini split is a heat pump, so the same system cools your home in summer and heats it in winter — no separate furnace and AC.
One outdoor condenser connects to slim indoor air-handling units mounted on the wall or ceiling in the rooms you want to condition.
Instead of ductwork, thin refrigerant and electrical lines run through a small hole in the wall, so there's no duct system to build.
Each indoor unit controls its own space independently, so you can set different temperatures in different rooms — and only run the ones you're using.
The indoor units run quietly, and the noisy compressor sits outside — a big difference from a window unit rattling in the room.
Mini splits use inverter-driven compressors that ramp up and down to match the load, and skipping ducts avoids the energy lost through duct leaks.
Is It Right for You?
Mini splits solve problems that ducted systems can't. These are the strongest signs one's a fit.
No existing ductwork
If your home has no central ducts — common in older Bay Area houses — a mini split gives you real heating and cooling without building a duct system.
A room addition or ADU
Additions, ADUs, converted garages, and sunrooms are hard to tie into central HVAC — a mini split conditions them on their own.
Rooms that are always too hot or cold
If certain rooms never get comfortable no matter the thermostat, a dedicated mini-split zone fixes that specific space.
You want per-room control
If different people want different temperatures, or you'd rather not heat and cool empty rooms, zoned control saves comfort and energy.
You're relying on window units
If you're getting by with noisy window ACs or space heaters, a mini split is a quieter, more efficient, year-round replacement.
You'd rather avoid duct remodeling
Adding ducts to a finished home is invasive and costly — a mini split delivers the same comfort without tearing into ceilings and walls.
How We Work
A mini split performs when it's sized and placed right. Here's how we handle every install.
We look at the rooms you want to condition, the layout, and the best spots for the indoor and outdoor units, and confirm what your home needs.
We calculate the heating and cooling load and recommend a single-zone or multi-zone system and the right unit placement for even comfort.
We mount the indoor air-handling units and set the outdoor condenser, drilling a small, sealed pass-through for the lines.
We run the refrigerant and electrical lines, connect and charge the system, and seal the wall penetration cleanly.
We test heating and cooling, confirm each zone works, clean up, and show you how to run it and the controls.

Real Customers, Real Results
These guys are awesome. Super clear comms to schedule, then received an extremely thorough consultation. We eventually decided to go with them as other shops in the area didn't communicate as well as Attic Pros.
Tom from Attic Pros was great to work with! He was friendly, professional, and thorough during the inspection. He clearly explained everything he found and answered all of my questions. The whole process was straightforward. Thank you, Tom!
Finding out we had a rodent infestation for the first time was incredibly stressful, but Attic Pros made the entire process so much easier! Jeremy was very knowledgeable when help preparing the estimate and the work that needed to be done. Their team that came to perform the work—Nico Otten, Juan Rodriguez, and Antonio Lopez—were amazing from start to finish. Communication was fantastic right from the beginning. The crew was super fast, highly efficient, and left everything very clean after sanitizing our attic, crawl space, and garage. They definitely gave us total peace of mind. They were also able to finish in one day!!
Our small cottage has a very narrow attic entrance. Denis from Attic Pros was willing to try and was able to enter to clean, vacuum, and replace the old insulation. Very professional, access areas were well shielded and protected. Powerful vacuum and clean up well after themselves.
Tom Best came to our house to give us an estimate on new insulation. He was on time, very thorough and provided a detailed very reasonable estimate within an hour of his visit. What more could you want?
Samim great service my attic was left very clean meticulous. I am so happy with the work that him and his team did great service. I recommend them highly. I would give them a 10 if I could.
