Step 1: Put Safety First

Before you begin any type of work, safety should always be your number one priority. Make sure you are wearing protective clothing (long sleeves, gloves, eye protection), and if possible get a dust mask for extra protection against any potential allergens.

If the space is too small for two people, then take turns entering the area so that someone else can watch out for potential hazards from outside the area.

Step 2: Vacuum Any Existing Insulation

Once you have taken adequate safety precautions, start by vacuuming any existing insulation in the area. This will help prevent any fibers or particles from becoming airborne and entering your lungs or other areas of the body where they could cause harm.

Make sure to wear a dust mask during this process as well! Once finished with vacuuming, collect all debris in plastic trash bags and dispose of it accordingly.

Step 3: Inspect Your Attic Space

Now it’s time to take a look around and inspect your attic space before starting any actual installation work.

Look for signs of water damage or mold growth on walls or ceilings as this is an indication that moisture has been present in the past and may still be present now which can lead to further issues down the road such as structural damage or pest infestations like termites or carpenter ants.

Additionally, inspect electrical wiring for frayed cords or exposed wires as these can lead to potential fire hazards if not corrected immediately.

Step 4: Install New Insulation

After inspecting your attic space and ensuring everything looks good, now it’s time for new insulation installation!

Depending on what kind of material you are using (fiberglass batting vs spray foam) there will be different installation instructions so make sure to consult with a professional before beginning this part of the project!
