Rodent Prevention Tips 

The most effective way to control rodents is to prevent them from entering your home or yard in the first place. To do this, make sure all potential rodent entry points are sealed. 

Look for small holes around windows, doors, pipes, vents, and utility lines. If there are any gaps or openings larger than a quarter inch wide—which is about the size of a dime—rodents can easily enter through them. 

Additionally, make sure outdoor garbage cans have tightly fitted lids and store pet food indoors. Reducing the clutter around the house will also help as rodents prefer hiding spots with plenty of covers. 

Traps & Baits 

If you already have a rodent infestation on your hands, trapping may be necessary to reduce their numbers quickly. Traps come in many forms from traditional wooden snap traps to more modern electronic traps that use electric shock waves to kill rodents instantly without using poison or glue boards which can be dangerous for people and pets if not used correctly. 

It’s important to use baits that are specifically designed for the type of rodent you’re dealing with; otherwise, they won’t be attracted by them and you won’t get results. Make sure to check traps regularly as dead rodents can contaminant other food sources if left unchecked for too long.  

Using Pesticides

If trapping isn’t enough or you don’t want to take the risk of using snap traps around pets or small children at home then pesticides might be an option for you.

However, it should be noted that pesticides must only be used in extreme circumstances as they can cause serious harm if not used correctly; some types of rodenticides (rodent poisons) can even remain active in soil or water long after they have been applied so it is highly recommended that you seek professional advice before attempting to use any type of pesticide yourself or hiring a licensed exterminator who knows how to use these products safely and effectively before proceeding with any pest control measures involving them.
